Role overview

We are seeking an private client partner with considerable experience of advising on lifetime trusts and inheritance tax to join and help develop our small and relatively newly established team in Tunbridge Wells.

Reporting to the managing director, this position offers an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and dedicated private client professional to make a name for themselves.

Key responsibilities

  • Establish a new line of service advising clients on inheritance tax and lifetime trusts to complement the team’s existing offering of wills, powers of attorney and probates.
  • Working closely with the managing director to ensure the firm’s goals are attained within the framework of our culture.
  • Providing supervision and guidance to junior team members where appropriate.
  • Handling a varied caseload of private client matters but mainly using your existing contacts and establishing new connections with IFAs as sources of repeat work.
  • Engaging in business development activities, including networking, building relationships with clients and referrers, writing articles and blogs, attending events and shows and contributing to the firm’s growth.
  • Demonstrating excellent organisation and document management skills to ensure efficiency and accuracy in case handling.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of private client law developments and applying this expertise to client matters.

Key skills and experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of lifetime trust and inheritance tax planning and with a broader knowledge of will drafting and complex probates.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage and prioritise a busy and varied caseload independently.
  • Commercial awareness and experience contributing to business development initiatives.
  • Network of professional and referral contacts.
  • Strong IT proficiency.
  • A proactive, flexible and solution-focused approach to meeting demanding client needs.
